QuranLens (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how QuranLens handles data when you use our Google Chrome extension.

1. Overview & Data Collection Summary

QuranLens is designed with a privacy-first approach.

No Personal Data Collection: QuranLens does not collect, track, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, IP address, browsing history, or location.
No Account Required: You are not required to create an account, register, or provide any credentials to use the extension.
No Selling of User Data: We do not sell, rent, trade, or transfer any user data to data brokers, advertisers, or third parties under any circumstances.

2. Chrome Extension Permissions & How They Are Used

QuranLens requests only the minimum Chrome permissions necessary to perform its core single-purpose utility:

storage: Used exclusively to save your local preferences (such as selected Quran translations, font size, or reading bookmarks) directly inside your local browser via Chrome’s chrome.storage API. This data never leaves your device.
activeTab / scripting: Used strictly to interact with text on the active webpage when you invoke QuranLens features (such as scanning or selecting Quranic text on demand). QuranLens does not inspect, collect, or store content from other tabs or unassociated web traffic.

3. Third-Party Services & API Requests

To display Quranic text, translations, or audio recitations, QuranLens may make direct HTTP network requests to public Quranic data APIs (such as api.quran.com).

These requests only fetch static text and audio files required to render the content.
No user identification, search profiles, or personal parameters are sent with these API requests.

4. Analytics & Tracking

QuranLens does not use tracking cookies, cross-site tracking scripts, or analytics services (such as Google Analytics or Mixpanel). Your reading activity and extension usage remain completely private to your local browser session.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

Because all configuration data and bookmarks are stored locally on your device via Chrome’s internal storage, you maintain full control over your data at all times:

You can clear all extension settings at any time by clearing your browser cache/storage.
Uninstalling the QuranLens extension immediately removes all associated local preferences and cached data from your machine.

6. Compliance with Google Chrome Web Store Policies

QuranLens fully complies with the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies:

We adhere to the Limited Use requirements, ensuring data requested through Chrome permissions is strictly used to deliver user-facing functionality.
User data is never used for personalized advertising, credit assessment, or lending purposes.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in extension features or legal requirements. Any updates will be posted directly to this URL with an updated “Last Updated” date.
